Bread & Butter Catering is the culinary love letter from Chef Derek Crayton, a native of Durham, North Carolina. His culinary roots began as a child alongside his mother in the kitchen, and along the way learned how food can not only nourish, but be the keystone of any gathering or celebration. After graduating from East Carolina University and working in the hospitality field, Chef Derek enrolled in Johnson and Wales University’s culinary program to finally build a career out of his true calling of using food to bring people together and create special memories.
Professionally, Chef Derek has worked many different types of operations. From helping run the first farm to table food cart in North Carolina, Michelin starred restaurants in San Francisco, a fly fishing lodge in remote Alaska, and most recently as the Executive Chef for the Durham Bulls- All of these jobs have brought Chef Derek to where he is today in hopes of sharing with you his passion for hospitality and the culinary arts.
